Partners for Digital Health Innovation

Young Epilepsy and Tiny Medical Apps Partner for Digital Health Innovation

Young Epilepsy is thrilled to announce a new collaboration with Tiny Medical Apps as part of the SBRI Healthcare Epilepsy Phase 2 project. This initiative, in partnership with the Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) and the Health Innovation Network, has selected four projects for Phase 2 funding. Following an initial six-month Phase 1 evaluation, the aim is to further develop and refine these innovations over the next 12 months, paving the way for real-world implementation within the NHS.

Transforming Epilepsy Care with Digital Health Passport

At Young Epilepsy, we believe digital solutions can significantly improve the management of long-term health conditions for young people. The Digital Health Passport for Epilepsy, co-designed with Tiny Medical Apps, is tailored to meet the specific needs of children, young people, and their caregivers.

The platform offers:

  • Medication Management: Assisting users in tracking doses, setting reminders, and understanding their treatments.
  • Seizure Tracking: Enabling individuals to log seizure activity and identify patterns over time.
  • Wellbeing Support: Providing resources for mental health and coping strategies.
  • Accessibility Features: Including voice control, ensuring inclusivity for users with learning disabilities.
  • NHS System Integration: Connecting with existing healthcare records for seamless communication with clinical teams.

By leveraging AI and user-friendly digital interfaces, the Digital Health Passport aims to empower young people, enhance self-management, and reduce hospital admissions.

A Step Forward in Supporting Young People’s Health

Dr. Greg Burch, co-founder of Tiny Medical Apps, expressed gratitude for the funding, stating:

“The Digital Health Passport is revolutionising asthma care for young people, and this funding allows us to extend its benefits to those living with epilepsy. Co-designed with Young Epilepsy, our solution places children and families at the heart of their care, ensuring they have the tools they need to manage their condition with confidence. We appreciate the support from SBRI Healthcare and our partners for recognising the potential of digital innovation in improving health outcomes.”

The Bigger Picture

This funding aligns with NHS England’s Core20PLUS5 approach, which focuses on addressing health inequalities among children and young people. With nearly a third of the UK’s population under the age of 25, innovations like the Digital Health Passport are crucial in ensuring that every child has access to high-quality care and support.

We’re excited to embark on this next phase of development and look forward to working with our partners to bring the Digital Health Passport for Epilepsy to life. Stay tuned for updates as we progress towards real-world implementation and continue our mission to empower young people through digital health solutions.
