Our purpose is to inform, educate, inspire and engage the nation, through young people with epilepsy living ambitious and fulfilled lives. We want an inclusive society that understands epilepsy.
Campaigns led by young people’s voices
Our campaign priorities are led by the views and experiences of children and young people with epilepsy. We work closely with our Young Reps and Young Supporters to inform our campaigning work and support them as advocates for children and young people with epilepsy across the country. Throughpeer-to-peer group discussions we enable young people with epilepsy to share their experiences together. Want to be a Young Rep or a Young Supporter at Young Epilepsy? click here.
Improving systems of support
We campaign to improve systems of support for children and young people with epilepsy. This includes influencing policy in government, healthcare and education to ensure the rights of children and young people with epilepsy are upheld. We enable our supporters to campaign with us on the issues that matter to them, connecting them with decision-makers relevant to them.
Our #UnderstandMyEpilepsy campaign is calling for every school across the UK to understand their students’ epilepsy. We want UK governments to strengthen their guidance to make clear that every child with epilepsy should have an Individual Healthcare Plan (IHP) so they can participate fully in school life.
Our previous campaign #OnTopOfEpilepsy called on UK healthcare leaders to integrate mental health checks and support into children and young people’s epilepsy care.
Reporting on young people’s experiences
We play a crucial role in gathering the views and experiences of children and young people with epilepsy through our survey reports. We reach out to young people and families to share their experiences, helping us to monitor and improve systems of support. We ensure that young people’s views and experiences help drive change by sharing the reports with key decision-makers and the wider epilepsy community. Find all of our reports here
