Running for a Cause

Dylan McHale's Paris Marathon Journey

We are thrilled to share the inspiring story of Dylan McHale, who is preparing to run the Paris Marathon in support of Young Epilepsy. Dylan's connection with the charity began even before he was born, as his mother has been a dedicated student Nurse at Young Epilepsy for over 24 years. Her unwavering commitment to the cause has profoundly influenced Dylan, leading him to actively participate in various fundraising activities and events.

Dylan has witnessed first-hand the significant impact that community support can have on young people living with epilepsy. From organising summer activity days and annual Christmas events to hosting popular Quiz & Curry nights, Dylan has been an integral part of the efforts to raise awareness and funds for Young Epilepsy.

Running the Paris Marathon is a significant milestone for Dylan, as it combines his passion for running with his dedication to supporting a cause that directly benefits young individuals with epilepsy. By raising funds, Dylan aims to provide essential resources and support services, advance research for better treatments, in a bid to create a more inclusive society where young people with epilepsy can thrive.

Dylan's fundraising efforts have already gained momentum, with generous contributions pouring in. He has set up a Just Giving page, and your support can make a tremendous difference. Every donation, no matter the amount, will help ensure that young people with epilepsy receive the care and opportunities they deserve.

His journey with Young Epilepsy began through his mother's work. Attending the various events with his mother, allowed Dylan to see the positive impact that community support has on children with epilepsy, inspiring him to get more involved.

Dylan chose the Paris Marathon because he wanted to make the experience exciting and memorable. Although he had planned to run a marathon in Iceland, a knee injury prevented him from participating. Now, he is determined to make his first marathon count by running for a cause that is close to his heart.

Fundraising has been going well for Dylan, with his Just Giving page already raising £220 in just a few days. He initially set a target of £500 but hopes to surpass it with the support of his friends, family, and the community. Dylan plans to promote his fundraiser on social media and through various articles to reach a wider audience.

His success is credited to the support of those around him, including his family, friends, and colleagues. He believes that taking on challenges like this is not a solitary endeavour and that having a team of supporters is crucial. Dylan's family, including his girlfriend and parents, will be there to cheer him on during the marathon.

With just a few months to go, Dylan is eagerly preparing for the marathon and is grateful for the support of his family, friends, and the community. Let's come together to support Dylan in his mission to make a meaningful impact.

As we wrap up #TryJan we encourage everyone to take on new challenges and support meaningful causes. Whether it's running a marathon, participating in a local event, or starting a new fitness routine, #TryJan is the perfect time to push your limits and make a difference.

By joining Dylan and others in their fundraising efforts, you can help provide essential resources and support services for young people with epilepsy.
