Zac completes his mammoth running challenge for Young Epilepsy

Zac's One Big Thank You

Fundraising superstar, 13 year old Zac Knight, received an extra special surprise recently as BBC's The One Show awarded him a 'One Big Thank You'.

Since being diagnosed with epilepsy in 2020, 13-year-old, Zac Knight, has been fundraising for Young Epilepsy since his eighth birthday.

Last year, Zac, and his family, went one step further. They planned to run at least a mile a day for every student at St Piers School and College - that's 172 miles!

Starting on 1st January 2024 Zac ran at least a mile every day (rain or shine) with the name of the St Piers student he was dedicating his run to, taped to his front. This challenge should have ended in July last year, when Zac completed a half marathon to celebrate the end. Only Zac had other ideas!

Zac wanted to extend his challenge to run at least a mile for every day of 2024.

On New Years Eve Zac and his dad crossed the finish line of their last run (they ended on a full 26 mile marathon distance of course) and celebrated clocking up a total of 830 miles over a years worth of running.

There were tough moments along the way. Working around recurring seizures, starting a new school and all the British weather had to throw at him, but Zac never gave up.

We are incredibly proud to say Zac raised over £73,000 for Young Epilepsy and St Piers.

Zac's efforts didn't go unnoticed and last month BBC's The One Show surprised Zac with his very own One Big Thank You.

Manchester United fan Zac thought he was accompanying his dad to a business meeting in Manchester, but he ended up meeting one of his footballing heroes, Manchester United striker, Rasmus Højlund! Zac was given a day he'll never forget and a truly special thank you for all his hard work.
