The Woburn Abbey Triathlon is an annual weekend event where this year (between 8-9 September 2018), more than 2,300 people took part to cycle, swim and run. Like last year, Young Epilepsy staff took part in the relay element of the weekend.
Young Epilepsy's Research Manager, Amy Muggeridge, kicked off the event by swimming 800 meters across the Abbey's lake. The charity's trustee, Professor Helen Cross OBE, was up next and completed the cycle. Professor Cross is also The Prince of Wales's Chair of Childhood Epilepsy and Honourary Consultant in Paediatric Neurology at UCL Institute of Child Health, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust, and Young Epilepsy. Professor Cross then tagged in Dr Amit Bali, Clinical Leadership Fellow who ran the final 5km stretch.
The course itself was 26km in length. They were all first-time triathletes and crossed the finish-line hand-in-hand after just two hours.
