#EpilepsyTogether: What being a Young Rep means to us

This year's 'National Epilepsy Week' theme is #EpilepsyTogether. At Young Epilepsy, we are very fortunate to have a team of Young Reps and Young Supporters who support our charity. Our Young Reps are a group of young adults aged 16-25 who are fundamental to ensuring that young people are at the centre of everything we do. They have a voice in every aspect of Young Epilepsy and we wouldn't be able to improve the lives of young people living with epilepsy without them.

When you have epilepsy, finding friendships and connections with other young people who also have epilepsy is so powerful. We asked the team, 'What does being a Young Rep mean to you?', and here is what they said...

'Being a Young Rep has allowed me to turn what could be looked at as a negative time in my life into a huge positive! I get to work with a great group of young people to make an impact for others who are going through similar experiences to us.'

'Being a young rep means I can be part of a supportive community, which always knows what I’m going through and can get help when I need it. I also enjoy giving back where I can and being part of changing how epilepsy is understood.'

'Being a young rep to me means - we can share tips with each other about what challenges we have faced having epilepsy, and hopefully others won’t have to go through the same things alone that we did.'

'Being a Young Rep is finally having a community who you can relate to. It's a support & education system which is unmatched. It has taught me so much about my own condition whilst giving me the chance to help others with theirs.'
